Correct placement of mosquito traps
The correct placement of the mosquito trap is absolutely essential for the success the BLAM mosquito attractants and the capture rate of mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes:
- do not like the sun
- need humidity to hydrate
- are bad flyers and hate the wind
- seek shelter from predators by hiding in plants
- do not cover big distances
Here are the most important tips to find the best location for your mosquito traps:
- position the trap in the shade: mosquitoes will avoid sunshine. They prefer shadow areas for instance a hedge, a grove or a wood shed
- all shelters in dense vegetation are ideals for traps
- about 10m from your terrace, pool or living space: mosquitoes will always be more attracted by you than by the trap, so place the trap between the mosquito breeding ground and where you spend your time outdoors
- try different locations to find optimal placement based on capture rates. Also do not forget to regularly change your BLAM mosquito bait
- if you use several traps then build a trap belt around your living space
To summarise: the trap must be in the shade, in the vegetation and sheltered from wind. And about 10m away from your terrace or pool.
