Which species are affected by BLAM BTI?

BLAM BTI is a highly concentrated powder form of Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelensis (BTI). It’s main target are mosquito larvae. However it was discovered and tested that BTI is also effective against many other hosts:

  • mosquitoes,
  • fungus gnats,
  • black flies [] and
  • chironomid midges [,] Tabanus triceps (Diptera: Tabanidae) [],
  • Mexican fruit fly,
  • Anastrepha ludens and Mediterranean fruit fly,
  • Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) [,],

  • Bradysia coprophila and
  • Bradysia impatiens (Diptera: Sciaridae) [,],
  • nodule-damaging fly
  • Rivellia angulata (Diptera: Platystomatidae) [],
  • pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Hemiptera: Aphidoidea) [],
  • potato aphid,
  • Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Homoptera: Aphididae) [],
  • cotton boll weevil
  • Anthonomus grandis (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) [],
  • leaf beetle,
  • Chrysomela scripta (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) [],
  • fall armyworm,
